I agree that a pool in this community is long overdue. The closest town pools are in either Massapequa or Bethpage. We are left out.
While those pools are in adjoining neighborhoods, they are a world away from many of our young people that would be able to either walk or ride a bike to Allen Park, some parents of young children with limited time to go back and forth, or seniors who might want to use it.
We pay the taxes that support existing pools but don't enjoy the easy access to them that the folks in those communities do.
There may even be a segment of the pool owning population here in Farmingdale that would seriously consider giving up their aboveground pools in their yards in favor of a big community pool where they can go with thir kids and socialize while cooling off or getting exercise. This would have a positive impact on energy and water consumption. With gasoline regularly floating in the near $4.00 a gallon price range, the expensive electricity rates here, and high water rates the savings to individuals could be significant.
It might also be possible that some who don't have access to a pool would forego a trip all the way to Tobay Beach once in a while during the summer and take a short ride or walk to Allen Park.
I can think of many more reasons to have a pool in Allen Park than not.
