Once again, I will re-iterate that "you" have a civic association called Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale working for your quality of life. CCAF meetings are held 10 times per year, with the exception of July and August. Attendance at either the March or May meeting would have not only answered "all" your questions but you would have had the opportunity to personally meet with key people involved in the project. Or, you can choose to read the continued propaganda on the Fdale.com home page showing the Stop & Shop banner on one side and the S&S "invented" Citizen's for a New Liberty that is so concerned about their neighborhood that they have yet to attend one meeting to add input to the project. The once "humble" Stop & Shop spokesman Kevin Ryan attended the May meeting, and you can sense that his confidence and ego has been bolstered now that this project has been approved. Stop & Shop will be breaking ground next Spring after several final details are ironed out including more cleanup at the once toxic Liberty Site. Yes, it's coming and CCAF is working with the Town of Oyster Bay and Stop & Shop successfully to ensure that the massive project causes the least amount of intrustion on our quality of life. The May "follow up" meeting included continued talks about traffic flow, property around the prototype supermarket, ideas for the remainder of the acreage, and so on. Membership in CCAF is $15.00 for a year, includes monthly email updates and meeting announcements, 10 meetings per year, quarterly newsletters, and your "right" to speak freely about what concerns "you"! I don't understand the hesitation so many homeowners have about getting involved in the future of their neighborhood. Attend just one meeting, it's free, see how you like it, bring all the concerns you have from illegal housing to school taxes and anything else that you have on your mind. You will be met with friendly voices and a sincerity to satisfy your concerns...and bring a neighbor with you. Come have coffee, CCAF is here to share information and keep you informed, and what makes the Association stronger is your feedback, your thoughts, and your suggestions.
