First you say, "Farmingdale has ONE supermarket. Pats, Best Yet and Compare are just glorified bodegas.", then you say, " I like stores like pats because they have things other stores dont have at a good price". So you're conflicted, obviously. Next time you're in Best Yet, Compare, or Pat's make sure that you tell the owner that he owns a "glorified bodega". As for people leaving Farmingdale? I leave once in awhile to go to Target in Levittown, but you can be sure that I use the local bakery, local gas stations, local hardware/variety store, florist and so on. So who are these people? The sky is not falling, it just stopped raining on your parade. The made up and well financed Citizens for a New Liberty along with Stop and Shop, and the Town Board have succeeded together to mock every business in the surrounding area, tax paying homeowners, and rational people that understand the safety factors involved. You shouldn't feel guilty for saving money and you shouldn't feel good about supporting this decision, because if this disaster were affecting your business or safety you would be against it along with over 1100 petitioners. Take a moment to read these quotes from another voice, that of JVM: "I’m a little concerned about the impact that S&S will have on Main St. shops in general, but more so upon its impact on Waldbaum’s. I have no personal allegiance to Waldbaum’s, but would rather not see that large store sit vacant.";"I’m concerned about the traffic impact, particularly because of its proximity to the park. That whole Motor Avenue/Main St./109 area can be a little congested at certain times of the day already, add in the additional traffic from S&S patrons and delivery trucks and it could get really ugly. I’m apprehensive about its effect on the overall quality of life in that section of Farmingdale because of the sheer size of it. Lastly, I wonder what will happen if it doesn’t make it. Will it sit vacant and unsightly for years to come? Will we have simply exchanged one problem for another?" and finally, " I think that building a S&S store on Motor Avenue will prove to be a mistake for both the community and S&S itself in years to come." The sheer possibility of Stop&Shop closing its doors remains to be seen but if it does, what would Eastdaler need next? The reality of it is that there is no business, homeowner, or parent living in the surrrounding area that thinks 83,000 sq. ft. of Protype Supermarket open 7 days a week from 6:30am till 11:30pm, is a good thing for true Farmingdale residents.
