Since I am a member of CCAF Board, it would be counter productive for me to continue to go back and forth. You are invited to attend and ask all your questions at any one of our monthly meetings, if you choose. As for numbers, you may believe someone at a Town Hall meeting that says 2000 homes were visited and that 700 homes were in the immediate area. No one can defend that statement. In 2004, spokesperson for Citizens for a New Liberty showed the numbers at the meeting at Farmingdale High School. She presented a map showing dots in the areas where they claim homeowners were for the project. If the definition of "immediate area" means across the street or a few blocks away, then there was no where near 700, not even 25. As for a majority vote, you would like to know the exact number, yet if signed petitions for Stop and Shop were 2 more than against, you would accept that as the majority as you are wholly for the project. As for a mulitplier, the statement is exactly as it reads. CCAF represents over 400 family members in Farmingdale, part of North Massapequa, and part of Bethpage. You can pursue this conversation to what end you choose, but in the end you will have your supermarket. Personally, I feel that this project will be an extremely negative impact for all the reasons I've stated. CCAF did not "lose", as the civic association is comprised of volunteers that will continue to represent its membership of tax paying residents that want only the best for their children, their quality of life, and their community. So it's time to move forward to new challenges, or others that have yet to be resolved.
