"Amanda admits she used and possessed a substance that is banned under Canadian criminal law".

Making the choice to use a substance and then blaming another does not lend itself to validity. It is way too easy to "cop out" saying that such actions or environment caused such usage. That is not acceptable. There is no room for crying "victim" here. I am not denying the fact that there may have indeed been problems. But turning to substance abuse is definitely not the answer. If anything, it discredits the one that makes the claim.

In light of that fact, I am left wondering if indeed this person's claims are indeed really true. If it was and there were obstacles to overcome, why didn't they come forward to the board members. If that was not practical or a safe option, why didn't the person leave the College, contacting parents, media, etc. to express the concern(s) they have expressed here. There is no indication whatsoever that this individual sought out another means to share this information, only use of illegal drugs. How reliable is the claim then?

It is indeed a benefit to have David Hawley at the helm. It is also important that any issues be addressed through the right avenues, not hidden away by use of illegal drugs. Illegal drug use or abuse is not acceptable under any means.
