I had the opportunity to go to Seattle with Kathy and her husband and be present with family, friends and colleagues of Isbel's, as they both mourned her loss and celebrated her life. It was very moving. Clearly, Isbel's lovely strength and warmth, which many of us remember, blossomed wonderfully in these last years of her life. She touched the lives of many in her recent position as Director of Computing Services at Bellevue Community College (an extremely large post secondary college).

Isbel's apparent ease with people of all ethic origins was acknowledged over and over- something that may have grown its roots as one of us. Her 19 year old daughter Gabrielle who was the m/c for the day, showed amazing courage and strength and reminded many of Isbel. Her son Juan was visibly affected by this tragedy but was most appreciative of the presence and sharing of so many.

I was very glad to be there, and felt that I somehow was able to represent many of you who could not make the long trip to attend. Unfortunately Marg was facilitating a retreat and could not come with me.
